Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA)

ABA refers to the process of applying interventions driven by principles of learning determined through experimental psychology research to systematically change behavior and establish that the interventions used are responsible for the observable improvement in behavior.

Improving the provider experience

Wellpoint — in partnership with BlueCare Tennessee, UnitedHealthcare Community Plan, and experts in the community — has identified helpful resources to guide care providers in their members’ care journey. This includes:

  • Streamlined standard practices that aim toward enhancing service delivery to our members
  • Construction of a comprehensive, efficient, and effective framework to guide ABA therapy services
  • A dedicated ABA program description to serve as a guide that outlines updated provider requirements and administrative procedures
  • The multi-MCO form Request for Applied Behavior Analysis, which allows providers to reduce administrative redundancies and strengthen clinical data collection
